If you advertise a book about Arthurian Legends, especially if you say it’s origin stories, I’m going to buy it. Maybe it’s a sickness, but if it is, don’t send me a pill for it.

As soon as I saw this book on Kindle Unlimited, I downloaded it. I had to wait until I finished another series to read it, but I started it right before I left for a week in Iowa. I read on the plane for the most part. I put headphones on, with no sound, and I just read. Any opportunity to stick my nose in a book is a happy time.

I am a dedicated fan of Arthurian Legend. There is no other genre that impacts me the way stories from that time do.

So when I run across a book that speaks to the origin stories of some of these people - that promises me an origin story - that says it will give me a unique spin on an extraordinary tale - I jump straight up in the air and grab it.

That's how I ended up with The Lost Queen on my kindle.

In short, I loved this book.

The characters are flawed, but easy to build a connection with. The setting is well-described and immersive. The story telling makes you want to be in the middle of Ancient Britannia with the characters, even though you know you probably wouldn't survive a week of their way of life. The dialogue is clever, but true to the time period.

It is one of those books that I will buy now, in physical form, to keep on a shelf. And truth be told, those books are few and far between for me.

If you are interested in ancient Scottish history, Arthurian Legend, or just a fantasy tale of family, of love, of loss, this is the book for you.

Cannot recommend highly enough.
